How to find the Steffisalp Hotel in Warth am Arlberg when you go on holiday
Warth is part of the tradition-steeped Arlberg, and the Steffisalp Hotel is at the very heart of it. As follows, please find some important information for a stress-free and safe journey to your holiday in Arlberg.
"Vignette" tax disc requirement in Austria and winter tyres requirement
As a general rule, all motor vehicles that use the motorways (Autobahn) and express roads (Schnellstraße) in Austria are obliged to pay the "Vignette" tax. The "Vignette" allows motor vehicles and motorcycles to use the motorways and express roads. Make sure that you buy the "Vignette" before entering Austria. You can buy the "Vignette" at service stations near the border. Detailed information is available at www.asfinag.at.
Please also remember that from 1st November until 15th April, all cars in Austria have to be equipped for winter conditions. In winter driving conditions, this means that your car has to be equipped with winter tyres or snow chains.
Winter road closure between Lech and Warth am Arlberg
In the summer, your journey to the Steffisalp will take you over the Arlberg Pass, which is a beautiful rural highlight. If you arrive from the east in the winter, however, please note that as a rule, you CANNOT drive over the Arlberg Pass. Between Lech am Arlberg and Warth, the L198 country road is closed if there is any risk of avalanches. Please find out whether the road L198 is open or not before you begin your journey.
