Mandatory Vignette toll permits and winter tires in Austria

All vehicles are generally subject to tolls on Austrian motorways and expressways. Purchasing a Vignette toll permit entitles cars and motorbikes to use the autobahns and highways. Please make sure that you have purchased a Vignette toll permit before you cross the border. You can purchase the Vignette toll permit at all rest stops close to the border, for example. More information is available on the Asfinag website.

Please also note that all cars in Austria must have situational winter equipment from November 1 to April 15. When driving in winter, your car must be equipped with winter tires or snow chains.
