Entire Warth is proud of Johannes Strolz!

The Austrian ski racer had recently been removed from the ÖSV squad. For him, this meant that he had to pay for his own costs from the beginning of 2021 and no longer had a team or service man available.

But then the fate of the 29-year-old ski star from Warth turned. In the slalom in Adelboden this year he got his very first World Cup victory this ever. His best finish so far was a 10th place in 2020. With this more than strong exclamation mark, he finally secured his ticket for the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing 2022.

The talent runs through the family

What Hubert Strolz already achieved in 1988 at the Olympics in Calgary (1x Gold in Combination, 1x Silver in Giant Slalom) – was now achieve again by his son! This makes Johannes Strolz the first alpine athlete to be able to repeat his father’s golden Olympic success. But Johannes didn’t just get the gold. Exactly 34 years after his father, he won three medals! In addition to gold in the combination and silver in the slalom, Johannes drove to gold again in the team competition to the crowning glory.

In addition to Hubert Strolz and Johannes Strolz, Warth also has another Olympic heroine. 1972 Wiltrud Drexel won bronze in Sapporo 1972 in giant slalom.

Not only Warth and the entire Arlberg region, but also the whole of Austria is proud of the newly crowned double Olympic champion, who grew up here in our beautiful municipality with 175 inhabitants in the Bregenzerwald and who – amongst other places- also learned to ski in front of the gates of our hotel on the Steffisalp piste.
