A mountain summer full of opportunities for the whole family!
Finally get out and breathe in the mountain air! There’s something for everyone – whether it’s a demanding summit tour, a comfortable mountain hike or a walk around the Körbersee, one of the most beautiful places in Austria.
Active holiday in Warth-Schröcken. The two small Walser villages are located at around 1,500 meters above sea level between Arlberg and Bregenzerwald. Together they have less than 400 inhabitants and are therefore the perfect place to enjoy nature and tranquility.
Summer vacation on the mountain
For athletes, motivated people, mountain lovers and nature lovers, there are plenty of opportunities to get active in the fresh air. Gladly also with children, because there are always routes in different levels of difficulty available for each activity listed here.
Climbing on summer vacation
For example in the adventure park & high ropes course in Schröcken. In addition to 42 rope courses, there are also 3 rope slides and a 150m long Flying Fox. Depending on the skill level, the levels of difficulty vary between 3 and 15 meters in height.
Those who prefer rock climbing will find the right terrain on the Karhorn via ferrata – one of the many via ferratas in Warth-Schröcken. Children can also let off steam on the Murmele via ferrata.
Hiking on summer vacation
The region offers hikers a total of 306 hiking kilometers – including unique mountain panoramas and unforgettable views. Especially on summer days, a cooling dip in the fresh mountain lake is the special culmination of a successful day on the mountain. In order to regain strength during an exhausting summit tour, numerous huts invite you to stop and have a snack. Various hiking buses also run to and from the hiking areas, some of which can be used free of charge with the Warth & Bregenzerwald Cards (guest cards). There are also various hiking trails for families, especially with children we recommend that you inquire about the Murmele hiking pass!
Two special hiking highlights in the region around Warth include the long-distance hiking trail Lech (125 km) and the 7 Summits Tour in Schröcken (7 summits, 48 km, 4,300 meters in altitude). The various alpine schools in the area will be happy to help you with planning routes or with guided hikes.
Körbersee natural site
Whether on foot, by car or by bike – the ultimate excursion tip is the natural jewel of Körbersee. This mountain lake is only around 10 km away from the Hotel Steffisalp and was voted “Austria’s most beautiful place” in a television program a few years ago. The best way to convince yourself is to take a walk around the lake or even take a rowing boat ride!
Summer vacation: swimming, barbecuing & more in Warth
Explore the area comfortably – but that can also be done differently. We recommend a bird’s eye view via a tandem paragliding flight. A little more relaxed is the e-bike, whose batteries actively support you while cycling. This makes it much more comfortable to get from A to B – for example archery, one of the barbecue areas in the region or whitewater swimming.
Speaking of swimming! Ask the outdoor providers and sports shops about water sports such as canyoning, rafting or fishing on the local rivers and streams.
As you can see – there is a lot to experience here in the Bregenzerwald-Arlberg region!
